Pomeroy
Volunteer Fire Department
The Pomeroy Fire Department and Ambulance has been working hard to
ensure that the area they cover will have the best emergency equipment
and personnal available. Pomeroy has volunteer firefighters who are
on-call 24 hours a day to handle all the fire and other emergencies.

The Fire
Department is completely staffed by volunteers. They are certified as
Firefighter 1 through the Iowa Fire Service Training Program. They cover
structural fires, EMS calls, hazardous material spills, grass fires and
service calls. Local 1372 Volunteer Fire Department serves residents of
Pomeoy, rural and city and the west side of Twin Lakes. Hazematt Operations
through Fire Service Training Bureau. Funding for the Fire Department
comes from the City of Pomeroy, the Pomeroy Rural Fire Department/Butler
Township, the fire department's own fundraising efforts and the great
support of donors in and outside the community.
The Fire
Department is in the process of updating their equipment and fire station.
The Department continues to seek opportunities to raise the funds needed
to purchase these items. Check back to this site periodically for more
information on fundraising events
