thank you poster to KCCI, Casey's General Store, Dr.
Pepper, and Prairie Meadows was available for people
to sign. This sign will be framed and hung in the Shelter
House. Signs acknowledging the other large contributors
to this project will be hung in the shelter as well.
The
City purchased two swinging bench seats for installation
at the Gordon Prange City Park. One swinging bench sits
next to the community building and the other is located
further down by the volleyball court.

Veterans
Memorial Park
Pomeroy
has several parks available for residents to enjoy the great outdoors.
Pictured to the left is one of those parks, Veterans Memorial Park
located on the corner of First Street and Ontario Street, next to
the Community Building.
This
park is dedicated to local veterans that have served our country.
Paved stones have been engraved in memory of such men and women.

Gordon
Prange Memorial City Park
Gordon
Prange Park is located on the Northwest edge of Pomeroy. This park
includes a tennis court, tetherball, various playground equipment,
campsites with electrical and sewer hook-ups and just recently,
a new Shelter House. In the fall of 2008, Pomeroy Men's Club started
building the new Shelter House, replacing the old Shelter House
that was demolished in 2004. Large contributors for this project

June 4th, 2009 Caitlin Coyner was at the Gordon Prange
City Park to film footage for the 5:00 news later that afternoon.
Robin Seehusen represented Casey' General Store to present the
Pomeroy Men's Club with a check for $3000 for completion of
the handicapped bathrooms and to help fund the picnic tables,
park benches, trash receptacle and small children's picnic table. |
On
Saturday August 29th, 2009, the Shelter House Committee held
a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Shelter House. Bratwurst, beans,
chips and drinks were served from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The beergarden
was open from 4 p.m. to midnight and the David Lee Band played from
8 p.m. to Midnight. |

On
Friday, October 9, 2009 Caitlin Coyner from KCCI Channel 8
News taped the completed shelter house. City Clerk, Sarah
Juilfs was spokesperson for the Shelter House Project.
The Shelter House Committee served bars and coffee for the event.

Park
Located
just south of the Pomeroy Mini-Mall. This empty lot was transformed
into an attractive colorful park.

Lyon's
Park
This
park was donated back to the City in 2008. The new lift station
for the Lagoon was recently built in October 2008. This will also
be the site of the new Maintenance shed for the Public Works Department.

Water
Tower Park
Located
south of the Community Building, this park has an antique cast iron
watering trough that had been used for horses back in the day. Towering
over this park is the newly painted water tower. |
